The Streamwood Fire Department is comprised of 52 agency members, with 8 peer support members, serving firefighters and paramedics. Their Peer Support program originated in 2015. Members are trained through peer support curriculums, including Target Solutions, and peer support members are to complete continuing education monthly.
Aside from peer support, other wellness programs that the department offers includes EAP, wellness spaces, and on-duty wellness allowances.
The department’s peer support coordinators are available to coordinate assistance to outside agencies for one on one peer support requests, critical incident response, and program development or implementation collaboration.
